SDLP politicians have condemned the arson attack on car belonging to Sinn Fein councillor Kevin Campbell’s car in the early hours of this morning.
The Foyle MLA said: “The SDLP stands with Cllr Campbell and his family today. Those responsible for this attack are thugs who will not prevail.
“We will not be dragged back to the past. Public representatives have a mandate from the community to serve local people. Those responsible for these actions do not speak for our community.
“Anyone with any information should go immediately to the police.”
“Our thoughts are with Cllr Campbell and his family.
Derry councillor Councillor Brian Tierney, whose car targeted in an arson attack at Glencaw Park last November, said:
“I completely condemn this attack on Councillor Campbell’s car. Those responsible should be ashamed of themselves.
“My thoughts are with Kevin Campbell and his family today.
“This is a scary ordeal for any family.
“Having recently had a similar attack on my own vehicle at my home, I know how the family are feeling.
“I urge anyone with any information to contact the police.”
