SINN Féin Councillor Kevin Campbell has welcomed the news that Apex Housing has confirmed that a pest control company has been employed by them to tackle a rodent problem in the Ballymagowan area of Creggan.
Councillor Campbell said: “I was made aware of a rodent problem in Ballymagowan area a number of weeks ago.
“It was having a terrible impact on local residents fearful about rats getting into their homes and subsequent problems that would bring.
“As a matter of urgency I held an on-site meeting with Apex Housing at Ballymagowan to discuss this particular problem.
“I also delivered a letter to residents advising them to keep their back doors and windows closed and not to leave food out for birds etc until we get this problem resolved.
“Apex has now confirmed to me that a pest control company has been employed by them to tackle this problem.
“We will deliver an updated letter to the residents of the area to inform them of this progress.”
