DERRY City earned a deserved point tonight at against league leaders Dundalk with a 2-2 draw.
The Candy Stripes twice came from behind to keep their unbeaten run in the SSE Airtricity Permier Division.
Robbie Benson opened the scoring for Dundalk at Oriel Park (kick off 7.45 pm) after just six minutes.
Hoban cam,e close within a few minutes to doubling Dundalk’s leader but his shot was pushed out for a corner by Ger Doherty.
On 19 minutes, Derry’s had its first opportunity of the game, but Cofie scuffed his shot.
Dundalk dominated the first half but on 40 minutes Derry were awarded a penalty and Aaron McEneff stepped up and slotted home from the spot.
But Derry’s lead was short lived and within four minutes Dundalk had reclaimed the leader with a goal by Michael Duffy who punished some poor defending by the visitors.
And within in a minute of the restart, Derry had leveled the game again.
Eoin Toal scored the equaliser – his first goal for the Candy Stripes.
On 86 minutes, Derry were reduced to ten men when Gavin Peers saw red for a second yellow card.
And with four minutes of added time, Dundalk piled on the pressure looking for a third goal to seal a win and the three points,
But Derry battled on the final whistle and secured a well deserved point against the league leaders.
