THE sterling work over the past 25 years by Foyle Search and Rescue was recently recognised at the Guildhall in Derry by the city’s First Citizen.
Countless people are alive today thanks to the life-saving work of FSR volunteers who are on duty 365 days a year along the Rive Foyle.
FSR says on its Facebook Page: “The Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District Council Maoliosa McHugh held a reception recently in the Guildhall in recognition of the 25 years of service Foyle Search & Rescue volunteers have given to the city and beyond and the contribution made in the community.
“Mayor Mc Hugh spoke at length of his visit to and interactions with FSR during his time in Office.
“Chairman of FSR Mr Stephen Twells expressed his thanks to the Mayor for his support and discussed briefly the varied roles that FSR undertake including our Education role to schools and Youth Groups.
“Mayor McHugh presented a commemorative piece of Crystal in recognition of 25 Years Service.
“Foyle Search & Rescue would like to thank the Mayor and guests who attended the reception.
“Last but not least Thank You to everyone in the community for your continued support over those 25 years.”
