Police seize large quantity of alcohol from underage teenagers in Derry

UNDERAGE drinkers got their collar felt last night after a police chase netted a large quantity of alcohol.

The seizures were made in Galliagh, Glenabbey and the Ebrngton areas of the city.

PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page:

“Ballyarnett Npt were travelling through Galliagh this evening and observed a male drinking from a tin of Cider 🍺.

“He looks a bit worried and attempts to hide the tin. He was accompanied by two females and for some reason they all decide to run.

“This leads to the Ballyarnett Relay 🏃 Challenge. First up the Sgt takes off like a whipet from Heather Road, Cashel Hill Park and towards Glencaw.

“The male is going well but the females give up. He has the two bags so we keep after the fella.

“Using my head I drive up 🚓 towards the top of Glencaw. I can see him in the distance minus the bags.

“The Sgt has stopped with the discarded bags so I take up the baton. Off we go towards Brookdale Park and the big fella 😥 is starting to slow.

“After a couple of alleys he thinks he has lost me and tries to hide between a hedge and a parked car.

“Peekaboo, I have found you, 😂😂 and the chase is over.

“I have been asked to remind everyone that there are bylaws in the city for On Street Drinking. Unfortunately for this fella he is only 17 and was taken home regardless.

“The two females 👭 were also located.

“Apparently they know nothing about the River Island bag containing two bottles of Vodka 🍹, Pink Adidas hoody, perfume, make up and iPhone charger.

“A large quantity of alcohol 🍻🍺🍹🍸🍷🍾was also from youths in Glenabbey Estate this evening.

“Early intervention is key to preventing alcohol related problems and ASB in our communities.”
