Little Casper who was killed by a death driver in Derry

POLICE are on the trail of a death driver who killed a family pet in Derry.

Little Casper was struck by the Toyota Corolla Verso car in Galliagh.

The family of the young boy who owned Casper have described his death as “heartbreaking” and slammed the incident as a “disgusting act”

During follow up inquiries, police subsequently seized the car and are appealing for information about the driver and its movements since Thursday.

PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page: “Ballyarnett Npt 🚔 are investigating a serious hit and run incident that occurred in Fern Park, Galliagh, Derry on Thursday 10/05/2018 at approx 1300 hours.

“A family pet 🐕 was struck and killed by a vehicle at the bottom of Fern Park.

“This vehicle subsequently made off at speed up Fern Park and across Leafair field towards Glencaw Park.

“On Friday 11th May Ballyarnett Npt 👮 located and seized a silver Toyota Corolla Verso.

“This vehicle is suspected to have been involved in the incident.

“We have also arrested a male in connection with the matter and are continuing to investigate this heartless act vigorously.

“I would like to thank Pet FBI who have highlighted this case.

“However we still need your help:

“Did you see this vehicle on the 10th May?

“Do you have a dash cam?

“Where you in or around Galliagh at or around 13:00 hours on 10th May?

“Do you know who owns or was driving it?

“Any information received could be vital in securing a prosecution.

“We appreciate any assistance in this matter.”
