IN the second detection in a week, police in Derry have arrested an illegal and unaccompanied learner driver in the city.
Not only had he not passed his driving test, he was also driving with no insurance.
He will soon have his day in Derry Magistrates’ Court for a raft of motoring offences and will be banned from the roads before he even passes his test.
PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page. “It’s a beautiful day and Ballyarnett Npt are looking forward to getting out and about 🚔🚓.
“If you are experiencing any problems in Ballyarnett DEA be sure to let us know 📞☏.
“We have just made our first detection at the rear of Whitehouse Retail Park.
“The fella gave us the look 😟. He then tried to give us the slip in the vehicle and then verbally.
“However, we soon got to the bottom of it. He was driving unaccompanied, had No Insurance and was not displaying L plates.
“Having an intensive learning 🚗🚗🚗 business card is not quite the same as having taken the lessons and having passed the test.”
Police have since revealed that the Suzuki car was also fitted with false registration plates.
“That will be fraudulent used of a registration plate added to the list of offences,” added PSNI Foyle.
