Two teenagers charged with burglary and criminal damage at Rafters Bar in Derry

PSNI Foyle say its Reducing Offending Unit, alongside Local Policing Teams, have today charged two males to court with burglary and criminal damage which happened at commercial premises in the city on Monday, May 28.

Police say officers received a report from a member of the public at 11:35 pm who noticed two males outside Rafters restaurant/bar on Northland Road.

He told Police a window of the premises had been smashed and damage had been caused to a gas box situated close to the building.

It was further discovered that damage had been caused to an ATM in the vicinity.

LPT2 officers attended and made two arrests.

A police spokesperson said: “We want to thank the member of the public who made this report, and appeal to anyone who was in the area and noticed any suspicious behaviour, or anyone who knows anything about this incident to contact Strand Road PSNI on the non emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1691 of 28/05/18.

“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
