JAMES McClean has been named Ireland senior men’s player of the year at the inaugural CRISC Awards and dinner in Dublin.
McClean, who had a fabulous year for his country including an emotional late winner against Wales that sealed Ireland’s World Cup play-off spot, adds to his Irish Sports Personality of the Year award he won earlier this year.
The Creggan man was Ireland’s stand-out performer during an impressive World Cup qualifying campaign as they fell short against Denmark in the play-off round.
And the Albion winger capped off his week with an assist in the Republic of Ireland’s 2-1 victory over the United States in Dublin on Saturday.
McClean’s future at Albion is uncertain after the winger admitted he wanted to leave the club in January when Derby had a £6million bid turned down.
