A YOUNG male is facing court and a possible driving ban after he was caught by police doing ‘donut’ handbrake turnsin his car in Derry.
Police say the driver has only been out of his ‘R’ plates a year and has already amassed five penalty points on his licence.
PSNI Foyle say the detection was made late on Friday night by officers on patrol in the Galliagh area of the city.
An officer wrote on its Facebook page: “Late on Friday night Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team were on patrol when we saw spied a Honda Civic handbrake turning and doing donuts at Fairview Road at Galliagh Park.
“It looked like he was trying to show off for the ladies as when he finished his bone headed display two girls got out the car.
“He didn’t know we’d sighted him and we got him on Fern Road.
“He is being prosecuted for dangerous driving but has five points already and has not yet been driving two years.”
The driver will appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court at a later date for a first remand hearing.
