PARENTS are up in arms over news that a Derry primary school has been forced to lay off a teacher because its budget no longer covers their wages.
The news was delivered in a bombshell letter to parents yesterday by Nazreth House Primary School based in Bishop.
One parent said she was “appalled” at the decision give as MLAs at Stormont are still receiving full wages even though the Assembly has been shut down since January 2017.
The parent posted on Facebook: “Nazareth House ps issued a letter on Friday telling us they were having to let a teacher go because of the budget constraints forced on all the schools.
“I’m appalled they have been forced into this while our MLAs are absent from Stormont.
“Not sure why I bothered voting in the last election.
“Am totally disillusioned.”
The school was unavailable for comment today about the letter to parents.
