SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has announced that a bulk lift will take place in the Rosemount, Glen Road/Estate and Creggan Road areas next week between Monday and Tuesday, June 25 and June 26.
Councillor Cooper said he hoped the initiative would help to reduce incidents of fly tipping and increase recycling rates in the area:
“I am pleased that council have acceded to my request for a bulk lift, particularly in the Rosemount area where fly tipping continues to be an issue,” said Cllr Cooper.
“I have deliberately timed the request to coincide with the end of term at Magee University and the North West Regional College.
“We hope that landlords who are beginning to clear out rental properties in advance of the next academic term will avail of the opportunity to dispose of unwanted furniture and household items.
“We will be leafleting every single street where the bulk lift will be taking place so that residents are aware of which date the council will be visiting their area and also which items they can and cannot dispose of.
“If anyone has any queries they can contact me on 07743175709.”
