MAYOR of Derry City and Strabane District Council Councillor John Boyle has launched a free ‘Park and Ride’ shuttle service which will be provided by Translink at peak times during this year’s Foyle Maritime Festival (14-22 July 2018).
The free service will operate on the two weekends of the festival – Friday 14 & Saturday 15 July, and Friday 20, Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 July.
The two pick-up locations for the free ‘Park and Ride’ shuttle service are St Columb’s College, Buncrana Road and the new Foyle College, Limavady Road – and will drop people off at Sainsbury’s bus stop on the quayside.
Translink will operate the free ‘Park and Ride’ shuttle service approximately every 20 minutes from St Columb’s College, Buncrana Road and every 30 minutes from the new Foyle College, Limavady Road on the following dates / times:
Saturday 14th July 12noon – 10pm
Sunday 15th July 12noon – 10pm
Friday 20th July 12noon – 12midnight
Saturday 21st July 12noon – 10pm
Sunday 22nd July 12noon – 6pm
Speaking at the launch event, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr John Boyle said: “I am delighted to join up with Translink to launch the free shuttle service.
“This is an excellent addition for people wanting to get to and from this year’s Foyle Maritime Festival – and I have no doubts that it will be heavily used.
“I am also delighted that our city will be transformed into an international marina for the festival – with amazing entertainment, music, food markets and arts & crafts stalls – as it prepares to welcome back the Clipper Race yachts.
“With so many people expected to make the journey into the city centre to enjoy the packed programme of family friendly activities, it is great that this free shuttle service will provide easy access to the quayside.”
Translink’s Service Delivery Manager Alan Young says using public transport will be a convenient way to soak up all the action:
