POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on Main Street in Claudy yesterday morning.
Constable Knox said: “We received a report from a member of the public that he had parked his white Kia Sportage car on Main Street, opposite a newsagent’s shop and close to licensed premises, at 11.30 am.
“When he returned at 12 noon, he noticed substantial damage to the front right hand side of his vehicle.
“The front right bumper was also badly dented and there were blue paint marks on it.
“To date, no-one has reported causing damage to the Kia and so we are treating this as a hit-and-run road traffic collision.
“We would urge anyone who was involved in this incident to come forward to police as soon as possible.
“In addition, if anyone was in the area at the time and saw what happened, we would ask them to contact us as soon as possible on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 790 of 14/7/18.
“Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
