The Derry star was interviewed by the Belfast presenter and his wife Ruth Langsford, both 58, about her role in the horror film Pin Cushion.
The former Girls Aloud star, 33, stayed after the interview to sample presenter Gok Wan’s satay chicken which he was making in the studio kitchen.
“Eamonn’s salivating over there,” Ruth said in reference to the food.
Eamonn replied: “It’s Nadine I’m salivating over.”
His comment sparked some backlash on Twitter, with some users branding him “creepy” and “rude”.
“‘It’s Nadine I’m salivating over’ Ergh, Eamonn Holmes stop being a creep,” one user wrote.
Another added: “Yet again Eamon is being rude, he’s an awful human #thismorning i literally switched on for 30 seconds and had to turn it off, it wouldn’t surprise me if you lose viewers when that is on!”
But Nadine has come to Eamonn’s defence, writing on Twitter: “How RIDICULOUS!! Has it come to this that we can’t be nice to each other for fear of p***ing someone on twitter off????!!! P**s off……..”
She added: “I love @RuthieeL & @EamonnHolmes thank you for a lovely morning catching up @thismorning Thank you Ruth for your school advice!!!”
Meanwhile, during her appearance on the show, Nadine was asked to utter the word ‘flour’ for the Loose Women panel after a video of her saying the word went viral last month.
Eamonn was initially confused by the request before Ruth explained they were “making fun” of their accent.
But host Andrea McLean insisted: “I just think she says it nicer than anyone else in the whole world.”
