POLICE are investigating reports that shots were fired in Derry’s Sevenoaks area.
SDLP councillor Martin Reilly says police in the Waterside have erected a number of cordons in the area while the streets are examined for any spent shell casings.
Mr Reilly tweeted from the scene: “Up at Sevenoaks as @PSNIDCSDistrict deal with an incident earlier this morning.
“I’m told no one has been hurt. Unwanted disruption though at two locations.
“Anyone with relevant information should get in touch with the PSNI on 101 or on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.”
Members of the public are being advised by the police to avoid the area while the scene continues to be examined.
