DETECTIVES have charged a 50 year old man with a number of offences including attempted murder and arson endangering life with intent.
He is due to appear at Derry Magistrates’ Court this morning, Saturday, July 28 for a first remand hearing.
As is normal procedure all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.
The attempted murder charge is in relation to a shooting incident in the Sevenoaks area of Londonderry on Tuesday morning.
Warren Roberts cheated death when his car was rammed and a number of shots were fired at him.
He fled the scene and made his escape to the refuge of a nearby police station.
The 50-year-old has also been charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
This charge is in relation to an incident at Mr Roberts’ home in Sevenoaks in June which was attacked with a petrol bomb and a gas cylinder put in a car parked in the driveway.
The attackers left needles and drug related paraphernalia on the doorstep and scrawled ‘DRUG SCUM’ on the wall of the hosue.Mr Roberts revealed that he had received a death threat in the post along with a bullet.
He strongly denied claims he had anything to do with drugs.
