A car rammed into another car and shots were fired at the driver on Tuesday morning around 7 am.
The target, Warrent Roberts, cheated injury in the attack and escaped to a nearby police station for safe refuge.
In the dock today was Robert Gillespie, of Tamneymore Park in Derry.
As well as being charged with attempted murder of Mr Roberts, he was further accused of having and throwing petrol bombs in connection with an arson attack on the home of the same victim in June.
During that incident a gas cylinder was placed in a car parked in the driveway and ‘DRUG SCUM’ was scrawled on the house and drug paraphernalia left on the doorstep.
Mr Roberts denied any involvement in drugs and said he had received a death threat in the post along with a bullet.
Gillespie was remanded in custody to Maghaberry prison after a bail application was refused by the district judge.
