A MAN is in police custody after driving this three-wheeled drift bike at police in Derry this week.
The incident happened on Monday night but it was another 24 hours before the long arm of the law caught up with him.
PSNI Foyle say on its Facebook page: “If you’ve never seen a 3 wheeled petrol driven drift trike before. . . now you have!
“Here at Ballyarnett Neighbourhood Team we’d never seen one either until we started chasing this thing around Rosemount on Sunday.
“At one point the driver drove straight at Police & got a whack with baton in return. Ouch!
“The fella got away but not before we identified him with our stellar local knowledge!
“Given the chase, the serious offences & the wee baton job you’d think he’d lay low for a while…
“Fortunately for us most criminals turn out to be a little deficient in the old Common Sense Department.
“So sure enough there he was on Tuesday night out on the Springtown Road. He didn’t get away this time! He’s now been booked into Hotel Strand Road with his complimentary Five Alive at the check-in desk.”
