SINN Féin Education Spokesperson Karen Mullan has congratulated all students across the north who have received their GCSE examination results today.
According to the results, the proportion of entries awarded A*-C grades has risen by 0.7% to 81.1%.
Around one in 10 entries received the top A* grade.
The Foyle MLA said: “I would like to congratulate all those students receiving their GCSE results today.
“Our young people continue to prosper through the work of our teachers, carers and parents, and through their own dedication, strength and commitment to their studies.
“If you did not achieve the grades you wanted, don’t be disheartened, there are plenty of other options out there and I would urge you to explore these by talking to your teachers and careers advisers.
“Young people are often placed under pressure in today’s society and my advice would be to follow your heart, follow your passion.
“I wish you all every success for the future, whether you decide to go on to study A-Levels, take up a new course, or go into training or employment.”
