SDLP Ballyarnett Councillor Brian Tierney has condemned those responsible for the “reckless” firing of shots at a house in the Rossnagalliagh area of Derry.

Two blasts from a shot gun hit the downstairs window of the property.

A couple and their three children who were inside at the time cheated injury.

Cllr Tierney said: “Shots were fired at a house in the Rossnagalliagh area in the early hours of this morning.

“This was a reckless attack that could have so easily ended in tragedy and I completely condemn those behind it.

“There is simply no place in our society for such thoughtless and unjustified actions.

“I visited the scene this morning and spoke with residents who are both concerned and frustrated at this attack.

“I will continue to liaise with the PSNI and I would appeal to anyone who saw or heard anything last night to come forward to the police or Crimestoppes as soon as possible,” he added.
