SDLP Leader Colum Eastwood has reiterated his calls for the right of the Ballymurphy Campaigners to access truth after their loved ones were callously murdered during the Ballymurphy Massacre in 1971.
Mr Eastwood said that families of those murdered had been denied their day in court for long enough.
The Foyle MLA commented: “Where the wheels of justice often grind slowly, for the Ballymurphy families they haven’t ground at all.
“Instead they have been thwarted by political, military and policing actors for too long. Families must have access to the truth and at long last know what happened to their loved ones, and at whose hands they were callously murdered.
“I want to once again commend the integrity and dignity of the families as they continue on the long road for truth and justice.
“It is also important to reinforce the SDLP’s position that we will not accept any attempt by the British Government to legislate for any amnesty for British armed forces or any other violent perpetrators.”
