Nicola Curry, Business Development Manager at North West Regional College’s Business Support Centre said:
“On behalf of North West Regional College, I welcome today’s jobs announcement from Alchemy which is great news for our local economy.
“The heart of what we do at the Business Support Centre at NWRC is focused on supporting local companies to create a skilled workforce.
“In the last two years one of our most successful strategies has been the establishment of the pre training and mentoring Academy Model ‘Assured Skills’, guaranteeing a skilled workforce to investors bringing jobs to Northern Ireland.
“In partnership with the Department for the Economy we are delighted to support Alchemy’s investment in job creation in the North West by delivering a further Pre Employment Academy, which will enable the company to attract graduates with the composite level of skills required for the positions they are offering.”
SDLP Leader and Foyle MLA Colum Eastwood tweeted: “Great news that @alchemytechs will create 256 quality jobs in Derry.
“Well done @InvestNI & @mynwrc. A great endorsement of the young people of Derry.”
Sinn Féin Foyle MP Elisha McCallion said the announcement was “a great boost to the city and the wider north west region”.
“The company is making a significant investment in the city through the creation of 250 high level posts with salaries ranging from £25,000 to £45,000 per year.
“This is a major boost for the local economy and demonstrates what this region can offer when people work in partnership to make the vision of a new Derry and north west a reality.
“The jobs have been created due to the hard work and partnership with the company, Derry City & Strabane District Council, North West Institute and the local branch of InvestNI.
“At a time when the uncertainties of a Tory Brexit looms over business and threatens the economy here job creation of this level is welcome news.
“These jobs will provide much-needed employment for the local area and particularly for our young people and I look forward to seeing them come to fruition,” added the former Mayor of Derry.
