Derry City ended a six-year wait for a trophy when they beat Cobh Ramblers 3-1 on Sunday evening for the EA Sports Cup.

It was a record 11th time for the Candy Stripes, who secure the silverware through goals by Ronan Hale, Darren Cole and Aaron McEneff.

Cobh Ramblers equalised against the Foylesiders in the first half through Christopher Hull but it wasn’t to be their day as Gerard Doherty pulled off an incredible penalty save in the dying minutes to ensure Derry’s victory.
