Cllr. McGinley said: “In response to concerns expressed by residents I have been able to persuade the Department of Infrastructure’s Street Lighting Department to initiate a programme of replacement lighting in Ballymagroarty.
“We already have in place new lights on the main streets through the estate and work has now commenced on replacement lights across Stephen’s, Carleton and Mangan Courts.
“It is the intention over the coming period to replace lighting throughout Ballymagroarty and I welcome this latest work particularly as we enter the winter months.
“The improved lighting will also provide additional reassurance for residents fearful of criminal activity in the area.”
