SINN Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has welcomed work carried out by NIE in cleaning an area in and around a transformer in Cedar Street which had been surrounded by rubbish.
Councillor Cooper said: “I have been in contact with NIE for many months to try and get the area around this transformer cleaned up.
“Residents had been contacting me with complaints about rubbish and food waste accumulating in and around the transformer.
“It looked very unsightly and there were fears the rubbish would attract rats or that someone would set it on fire.
“I am pleased that NIE have taken residents’ concerns on board and cleaned up the area,” he added.
