Underage drinkers at house party attack police in Strathfoyle

POLICE came under attack last night by drunken louts at a house party in Strathfoyle.

Now a local youth group has called on those involved in the street disorder to engage with them in a bid to prevent any further incidents.

It is understood up to 50 people had gathered in the Stradowen area where they had been attending a house party.

Locals said the owners of the house were away on holiday and those who attended the party were aged between 13-17, with the majority from outside the area.

One woman says her car was struck with an object after she sounded her horn at the crowd on the road.

Residents have called for a streets project to be introduced, similar to one which ran last year, along with an Outreach programme.

Enagh Youth Forum Strathfoyle/Maydown say on its Facebook page: “There ws a large crowd of young people gathered in the area last night engaging in underage drinking and breaking bottles etc.

“EYF would appeal to these young people to stop this behaviour and get in touch with us this week so we can look at more positive ways for the youth to spend their evenings.

“We will also have three new outreach youth workers in place before the end of November.”
