Concern for safety over damaged street light in Creggan

Councillor Kevin Campbell with Councillor Sharon Duddy on Wednesday night at the Chapel Lane in Creggan

SINN Fein Councillor Kevin Campbell has raised concerns about a damaged street light in Creggan.

Councillor Campbell said: “I became aware that a lamppost had fallen to the ground on Chapel Lane late on Wednesday night.

“It was extremely dangerous due to electricity wires hanging out of it.

“I put a safety warning out on social media to alert residents of the dangers and not to touch it.

“This is a very busy laneway as it is the main pedestrian route to Central Drive.

“I contacted NIE and they sent a team of engineers to look at it straight away.

“They assured me that this will be fixed as a matter of urgency.

“I urge any resident who finds a street light in this condition to contact their elected representative straight away,” added Cllr Campbell.
