Derry-based fire safety engineers the Joule Group heading to Boston next month on a NW trade mission
The delegation, which will be led by the two Mayors, Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council Cllr John Boyle and An Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council Cllr Seamus O’Domhnaill, will travel to Philadelphia and Boston alongside Council officials and representatives from local further education providers and development organisations.
The purpose of the visit is to build on the work done over the past number of years to build strong political, economic and cultural links and to reach out to the diaspora.
Key to the visit is the inclusion of the local companies to promote the region as an attractive investment proposition and to develop new market and network opportunities.

He believes the trade delegation is a fantastic opportunity to look at new opportunities for expanding their business to the US with the possibility of developing a studio in the United States in 2019.
He is confident the company will benefit from being part of the delegation as they have a clear focus on what they hope to achieve from taking part.

“We currently have a Studio in Derry’s City Factory on Patrick Street where we employ 10 people, and have a studio in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates.

“We work with building owners, developers, architects, consultants and contractors during the design, construction and operation of a building or facility to enable them to achieve a fire safe facility during design and operation in innovative ways.
“Such facilities include airports, metros, stadiums, high-rise buildings, hospitals, industrial complexes and malls.

“This is the first time we have participated in a trade mission of this kind and look forward to being part of it and making the most of this opportunity to integrate technology in our field of expertise.
“We are really excited about the technology solutions we can bring to the US which will digitalise the management of fire safety in our clients’ portfolios.”
One of Joule’s key objectives from the visit is to establish consulting studios in the United States.
“We are really hopeful that we can set up our first studio in the US next year and that we will get some new appointments from major infrastructural projects such as rail development, airports and stadia,” he added.
The North West City region trade delegation will visit the US from 12-16 November visiting both Philadelphia and Boston.

The trade mission will run from 12 to 16 November with the two Mayors and officials visiting both Philadelphia and Boston and the businesses travelling to Boston only.
The aim of the visit is to build on the strong political, economic and cultural linkages already established in both cities with the North West City region.
This visit is part of the ongoing positive work being done by the two Councils to establish strong economic development links and initiatives in the US and will build on the work done over the last number of years in promoting the North West region as an attractive investment proposition and on developing new market and network opportunities for businesses from Donegal, Derry and Strabane areas.
Among the companies travelling are from Donegal – Triona and CFish. While Atlantic Hub, Joule Group, Northern Ireland Clinical Research Sciences, Automated Control Systems, Baronscourt Brewing Company and Bridie Mullin Ltd. from the Derry and Strabane area will also be taking part alongside both Councils, third level and further education providers and development organisations from across the North West including Ulster University, Letterkenny Institute of Technology, the North West Regional College and Udaras na Gaeltachta.
