It is unquestionably a big risk for Devine, who will leave his role as an underage coach in the Elite Performance Club NI scheme – with a huge rebuild set to take place this winter on the west bank of the Foyle.
Following a long week of negotiations with Derry City and Dundalk, it is unclear whether Ruaidhri Higgins will join Devine’s backroom staff after all.
Derry Daily understands the Limavady man was keen on returning to Derry City after spending two years as an opposition analyst for Stephen Kenny’s side.
Finn Harps assistant manager Paul Hegarty has been linked with the No.2 position in recent days and is set to meet the Finn Harps board this week.
