Police at scene of ‘heavy collision’ in Co Derry

POLICE are at the scene of a crash in Co Derry today.

The Five Mile Straight outside Magherfa is blocked between Lisnamuck Road and the A6 Glenshane Road.

Police have described the two vehicle accident as a “heavy collision” and urged motorists to drive to the conditions.

A PSNI officer, posting on the force’s Magherafelt Facebook page, said: “A lot of bad smashes the last few days.

“Keep your wits about you in regard to naturally greasy roads at this time of year caused by leaves, damp, mud, ice patches etc and always be alert to a stray animal or two popping out of the hedge.”
