TONY Taylor has officially been released from Maghaberry Prison after spending 993 days in incarceration.
Taylor was held was held at Maghaberry since 2016 after the then British Secretary of State Theresa Villiers revoked his release licence.
In 1994 he was sentenced to 18 years for IRA activity and was sentenced to three years in 2011 for possession of a rifle.
The Derry republican was never charged with any subsequent offence.
Supporters have described the 50-year-old as a victim of internment without trial.
Taylor has been released “on licence”, meaning he could be returned to prison if he breaches its conditions.
