Speaking to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities she said:
“This year’s theme focuses on empowering persons with disabilities for an inclusive, equitable and sustainable development.
“Whether it be in the field of employment, housing, leisure provision or any other field that affects our daily lives, people with disabilities will undoubtedly have some barriers to accessing their full entitlements.
“This needs to change.
“There is an onus on all society to ensure that the rights and entitlements of people with disabilities are guaranteed and respected at every level,” added Cllr Duffy.
