SINN Féin Councillor Aileen Mellon has expressed grave concern at a surge in online crime against women.
She was commenting after figures released by Amnesty revealed that 433 online crimes have been logged with the PSNI in the last year.
Aileen Mellon said: “This surge in reported online crimes against women is of grave concern.
“Among these horrendous crimes is harassment, stalking and death threats. This is a traumatic and emotional experience.
“Online abuse should be reported to the PSNI and internet providers – we need a joint effort to eradicate online abuse.
“I would appeal to anyone who is suffering from online bullying to reach out and seek help.”
