Drink driving blamed after car crashes and ends on its roof on Derry roundabout

POLICE have blamed drink driving for a crash which left a car on its roof in Derry.

No one was injured during the crash on the Caw roundabout.

PSNI Foyle posted on its Faceabook page today: “You might have seen this car parked upside down in the middle of the Caw roundabout.

“Thankfully no one was hurt but this was another bad collision due to drink driving in the city in less than a week. It’s shocking and an absolute disgrace.

“If you suspect someone is driving under the influence of drink or drugs and aren’t sure about calling Police, just remember this image.

“It could have been much worse.

“Tonight another concerned member of public called us about a driver she thought was under the influence.

“Within minutes Police had the vehicle stopped and the driver was breathalised and tested for the presence of drugs.

“He passed both tests but it shows the importance of reporting drink drivers as soon as you see them. The sooner you tell us, the sooner we can be there.

“Call 101 for non-emergencies and 999 for emergencies.”
