POLICE are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at a house in Derry on New Year’s Day.
The PSNI say officers received a report that the man’s body was discovered in a property at Lincoln Court, in the Waterside area of the city at around 7.20 am on Tuesday.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place to determine the cause of the death.
Four men aged 63, 33, 32 and 31, and a 32-year-old woman were arrested for questioning.
All five have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Sinn Féin councillor Christopher Jackson has expressed his condolences following the discovery of the man’s body.
Said Councillor Jackson: “The discovery of a man’s body in the Lincoln Courts area of the city is a shock to the local community.
“The police investigations into the incident are underway and must be allowed to continue.
“My sympathies are with the family and friends of this man at this time.
“Anyone with information on the incident should bring it forward to the PSNI.”
