SINN Féin’s Karen Mullan has welcomed news that the Waterside Shared Village project has been awarded €8 million funding from the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
The Foyle MLA said: “The funding announcement for the Waterside Shared Village project is welcome news for the people of the Waterside.
“There has been great work carried out in this area over recent years and this €8 million will undoubtedly boost the daily work of local community groups to transform the area.
“This much needed investment is a result of many years of hard work and relationship building across the interface of Irish Street and Top of the Hill.
“I am proud to have played my part in breaking down these barriers.
“I commend the hard work of Hillcrest Trust, Irish Street Community Centre and the Waterside Partnership, alongside Derry City and Strabane District Council,” she added.
