POLICE have closed the Whitehouse Road in Derry as a result of a security alert.
The road was closed at around 7.45am this morning and diversions are in place.
Police said they are examining what is believed to be a firearm that was found in a field in the area.
Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to seek an alternative route,
