SINN Féin’s Karen Mullan has said any attempt to cut the budgets of Neighbourhood Renewal projects this year should be rigorously opposed.
The Foyle MLA said: “Executive departments have a statutory duty to address poverty and disadvantage and to target resources at areas most in need.
“The Department have acknowledged that any further cuts to Neighbourhood Renewal Projects will mean job losses and a roll back of vital services.
“People living in areas of poverty and disadvantage should not pay the price for Tory/DUP cruel austerity agenda.
“Sinn Féin support the call by Neighbourhood Renewal Projects for their services to be protected.
“We will continue to press the Department to ensure there are no proposed budget cuts in 2019.”
