WHEN we were all enjoying our Christmas dinner with our families last month, the emergency and care services were at work trying to keep people safe.
To honour the sterling work they did over not just over the festive period but also throughout the year, Mayor John Boyle invited them into the Guildhall last night, Friday, January 18, for a reception.
They Mayor said: “I was Honoured to spend the evening with the unsung heroes in our emergency and care services to acknowledge their commitment to serving the public over the Christmas holidays.
“We deeply appreciate the critical work you do in our community, not just at Christmas but all year round.
The Mayor is pictured here with staff from the care services and the local Fire and Rescue Services.
Also honoured were the volunteers of Foyle Search and Rescue who monitor the waters around the River Foyle for people who enter the waters.
FSR is Mayor Boyle’s chosen charity for his year in office.
