A YELLOW weather warning for ice and snow has been issued for Derry by the Met Office.
The weather warning comes into effect from 3 pm today, Tuesday, January 29.
Further snow showers are expected on Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday morning.
Around 1 to 3cm of fresh snow, even in low level places, is expected.
Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing later on Tuesday afternoon, which will result in ice forming on untreated surfaces.
Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times.
Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are expected.
