Teen male charged over knife-point shop robbery and house burglary

A 15 year old male has been charged with robbery, possession of offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and burglary.

He is due to appear at Derry Magistrates Court on Tuesday, February 19 for a first remand hearing.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

The first two charges relate to a robbery at a newsagent’s shop in the Blucher Road area of the city on Sunday, February 17 around 10.15 am when a teen male held up a female member of staff with a large knife before fleeing with a sum of cash.

The charge of burglary relates to the burglary of residential premises at the Bond’s Hill area of the city on Sunday, February 17.
