FROM March 1-17, communities throughout the island of Ireland and around the globe will be celebrating Seachtain na Gaeilge , the largest Irish language festival in the world.
Seachtain na Gaeilge gives both learners and fluent speakers an opportunity to celebrate the Irish language with an emphasis on community events and the daily use of the language in common settings.

“This year, I will be particularly supportive of Lúcháir Leabhar – a unique event organized by Derry City Council and Strathane District for Gaelscoileanna in the area whose purpose is to celebrate World Book Day through Irish.
“We are delighted that Máire Zepf, the first member of Children’s Writing, will be on the day to provide creative storyteller and writing workshops ”
This year’s events program includes: Book Book – the World Book Day’s biggest celebration at City Hall in Derry with Máire Zepf, celebrating International Women’s Day, music sessions, Éigse Cholm Cille at the University of Ulster, family events at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, film shows, conversation circles, celebrating the Walls 400 and St Patrick’s Day Pre-Gaeltacht.
