SINN Féin Foyleside representative Hayleigh Fleming has called on Derry City and Strabane District Council to look at all options available to fill the reported shortfall in funding needed to help with the rebuild of Rosemount Resource Centre.
The new centre would create a new modern facility which will be located right in the heart of the local community.
Hayleigh Fleming said: “Back in October of last year I welcomed the news that the Department for Communities had announcement Neighbourhood Renewal Investment funding of £781,836 towards the capital costs of demolishing the old Rosemount Resource Centre and building a new modern community facility there.
“I believe that there is now a shortfall in the funding required to get this project over the line.
“With that in mind I am calling Derry City and Strabane District Council to look at all options to fill the shortfall.
“It’s very important that this project proceeds to ensure we have this facility in the heart of Rosemount.
“And comes at a time when we have also seen massive investment in Brooke Park and the Creggan Burn which has added greatly to the regeneration of the entire area.”
