SINN Féin MEP Martina Anderson has said cancer patients and their families should not suffer as a result of the reckless Tory Brexit.
Martina Anderson said: “The stark warning from the Royal College of Radiologists that cancer tests and treatment could be delayed by Brexit will cause widespread concern.
“We have previously had concerns about the impact of Brexit on the Euratom agreement which governs the movement of isotopes used in cancer treatment across Europe.
“Cancer patients and their families should not suffer because of the reckless policies of the Tories and their Brexiteer allies.
“We need to see the Department of Health coming out publicly and providing information to cancer patients on the specific impact of the north.
“This is yet another example of why we need the backstop to ensure the north is protected from the worst excesses of Brexit,” she added.
