Cusack calls for vigilance following ‘despicable’ Hatmore burglary

SDLP councillor Shauna Cusack

SDLP Councillor Shauna Cusack has called on people to be extra careful following a break in to a home in Hatmore last night.

Said Cllr Cusack: “I’ve been in touch with the victim of this terrible intrusion and have been informed that the thieves used forced entry through the back door.

“This happened in the space of a couple of hours between 8-10 pm last night.

“The property was ransacked and furniture broken before they left with a few hundred euro cash.

“This is a disgusting attack on someone’s home but the negative impact on their personal sense of safety and security is the most valuable thing they have stolen.

“I would ask anyone with CCTV in the area or who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the lower section of the park to get in touch.

“I would also remind people to do all they can to increase their security measures.

“It would appear that neither weather nor locks deter these despicable individuals,” she added.
