POLICE in Derry are warning the public to be on their guard about the latest BT scam.
The warning has been sounded after a woman in her 20s was convinced in giving the crooks her bank details.
PSNI Foyle say: “We had a couple of Reports last night of people receiving calls phone from someone purporting to be from BT.
“They were told there was an issue with their Broadband. One 25 year old victim was talked in to Downloading an App and handing over Bank Details.
“It’s easy for us to ignore the risks of Scams because we presume it’s targeted at older or vulnerable people.
“Not so.
“Some of these Scam artists can be really convincing.”
Never ever give your bank details to a stranger over the phone.
Hang up the call and call your service provider immediately and also alert local police on the 101 number.
