POLICE say that officers have arrested six people over a road crash in Derry this morning.
It follows a crash on the Culmore Road during which a car crashed into a wall near a local primary school.
A number of people fled the scene but were later detained by police.
PSNI Foyle say: “Many of you will have seen or come across the Silver Audi which crashed on Culmore Road near to Culmore Primary School about an hour ago.
“We have already made SIX arrests in regards to this.
“We’ve had numerous phone calls about this but would encourage ANYONE who saw the crash to call us on 101 quoting 385 of today’s date.
“If you have dash cam 🎥PLEASE give us a call or send us a PM.”
SDLP Councillor Angela Dobbins has condemned the actions of what she described as “death drivers”.
The Ballyarnett Councillor said: “We are very fortunate that this incident was not fatal. Only an hour beforehand, the area would have been busy with children heading to school.
“This reckless behaviour is absolutely disgraceful and those involved should be ashamed of themselves.
“I am pleased that those who fled the scene have now been apprehended by the PSNI and they must face the full force of the law.
“If anyone has any information relating to this incident, I would ask they contact the PSNI.”
