Sinn Fein councillor Sharon Duddy

SINN Féin Councillor Sharon Duddy has welcomed the news that a half a million-pound investment in the Abercorn Road area by Urban Villages will start today, Monday, April 8.

Councillor Duddy said: “I and my party colleague Cllr Patricia Logue welcome the news that work is to begin on the visual regeneration of the area today.

“Abercorn Road is one of the busiest roads into the city centre as well as for through traffic crossing Craigavon Bridge.

“The planned half a million-pound investment in the regeneration of the area by Urban Villages is offering the entire area an uplift.

“It offers the opportunity for local businesses to get new shopfronts, help with the painting of buildings and the likes of signage.

“I am pleased residents will be able to avail of help with the painting the outside of their homes.

“When completed this project will enhance the entire area and I look forward to seeing it come to fruition,” added Cllr Duddy.
