SINN Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has welcomed the news from the DFI Roads – Street Lighting Western Division that Bellevue Avenue off Bishop Street is set to get new street lights.
Councillor Logue said: “I have been liaising for some time now with the Street Lighting Western Division to see if there could be improvements made to the street lamps on Bellevue Avenue.
“Residents have raised concerns with me that there has been ongoing problems with street lights regularly not working and the implications that was having for the local community.
“I am pleased that I have now been informed by the department that there will be new lights/lanterns installed in place of the existing lights.
“A design has been done by their design team which they believe will give adequate lighting for the area.
“I would like to thank them for their co-operation and I hope that the new lights can be installed as soon as possible,” she added.
